Martinsons in Joint Venture with Urban Planning Consultancy
The company's vision is to be completely climate neutral throughout the process, from materials to construction and architecture. ”Together, we have the necessary skills to achieve this”, says Mikael Lindberg, MD of Martinsons Byggsystem.
The buildings in Sandåkern in Umeå will be adapted to work with existing land elevations, thus avoiding fillings and saving the pine vegetation.
”Through small interventions in the natural environment, and by building in wood, we can create energy efficient buildings with a minimal carbon footprint”, says Helena Andersson, deputy MD of Murman Arkitekter.
Ambitions are also high when it comes to the living environment. Large communal areas are combined with the possibility to easily adapt the flats to suit individual preferences.
Sales of the five-storey building flats start in September, and the plan is for the first shovel to be put in the ground in April 2014. A quick building process is expected.
”The building frames will be largely prefabricated in our factories, in order to minimize the time on the construction site”, says Lindberg.
The buildings are a part of the expansion of Sandåkern in Umeå. A total of 700 new flats will be built by 11 different companies.
